I am Aygül Cheosep, and it's a pleasure to connect with you here at "Uploading Happiness," a nurturing space dedicated to fostering a more meaningful and well-lived life.
My journey unfolds at the crossroads of two rich and diverse cultures: the East and the West. This has helped to develop my ability to embrace diverse perspectives and build bridges that unite various elements. I like to believe that I took the best of both worlds, and my core essence is encapsulated by the verb "to unite." My purpose is to facilitate connections between individuals and, perhaps most significantly, to foster inner harmony within each person.
Both professionally and personally, my journey has taken me to an array of realms, each offering a distinct facet of complexity and complementarity. These experiences have nourished my inner curiosity and an insatiable thirst for exploration. Everything I've encountered was a valuable piece in the mosaic of my reality, enabling me to express more authentically who I am.
Following a successful career in the corporate world, specializing in strategy and transformative processes, I decided to follow my heart's calling. I transitioned from crafting strategies for businesses to a more personal and micro-level strategy: enhancing individual potential. I brought my well-honed pragmatism, efficiency, and professionalism from my corporate background into my work with people.
Fueled by a desire to understand the workings of the human mind and how it can be harnessed to enhance our mental well-being, I embarked on a new academic journey, earning a second degree in Psychology.
Although this path required me to start from scratch in an entirely new field, it brought immense satisfaction and a deep sense of fulfillment. Listening to my heart and following my inner compass has consistently guided me over the years. I have continued to expand my knowledge and skills through extensive training and courses in psychotherapy, including Integrative Trauma Psychotherapy, IoPT Constellations of Intentions, Integral Somatic Psychotherapy, Bodynamic Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapies, Schema Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, and EFT Therapy. (extended list here).
Summarizing my extensive training, I primarily adhere to a psychodynamic approach, focusing on identifying the root causes of dysfunction while also addressing the symptoms to alleviate them.
I consider the body to be a reliable repository of our personal narrative—a deep well of implicit and unconscious memories. To this end, I frequently incorporate techniques from the realms of psychosomatics and mindfulness into my practice. Additionally, my cross-cultural skills have proven invaluable in understanding the nuanced aspects of an individual's personal story within their cultural context.
Beyond my role as a therapist, I am a fellow human being who has not only honed my professional skills but has also evolved through the art of living, experiencing, and continuous observation.
I mentioned that the word that defines me is "to unite." I have discovered that I can intertwine the role of I have rigorously tested my experiential knowledge and beliefs against the backdrop of academic literature and scientific research. In my capacity as a therapist and, more significantly, as a human being, I firmly believe that it is essential to live and embody one's own truth before guiding others through their own journeys.
As I mentioned earlier, my defining word is "to unite." I've found a remarkable way to interweave my role as a psychotherapist with my passion for dance, movement, and the performing arts. I am an avid student and collector of rituals and ecstatic dance traditions from India, the Middle East, and Africa. I facilitate self-awareness and self-enhancement groups using movement and dance, particularly Tribal Fusion Dances. I'm also a certified Hatha Yoga instructor and actively contribute to cultural projects in dance and performing arts, often centered around social and ecological themes.
I have crafted my own eclectic approach, seamlessly integrating my psychotherapy studies with ancient wisdom and practices. My intention is to distill the benefits of these diverse practices into an interdisciplinary framework that fosters a profound and contemporary connection between mind, body, and soul. I see myself as a dancer, exploring both the inner and outer worlds, positioned at the intersection of matter and spirit, nature and technology, art and science.
I'm here to provide you with support and guidance on your journey.
With warmth and sincerity,
Aygül
